Richard Justice thinks Houston is smart for extending Coop.
JJO, who has been taking the Astros to task recently, thinks this will give Cooper some breathing room. Check out the article for quotes from Miggy as well as Bourn.
Chip Bailey has his take here.
I like Cooper. I think anyone who can manage a club with such a terrible run differential as the Astros had last year, combined with the question marks surrounding our pitching staff, and almost get them to the post season deserves an extension.
People say Cooper has lost the vets in the clubhouse and I really hope that this is not the case, and if it is, this will help out the situation some.
Who thinks Cooper lasts through the season?
Here's to hoping.

I don't necessarily believe that they extended Coop because they believe him, but rather to calm the storm that he'll be gone some time in the season when we inevitably go on massive losing streak.
ReplyDeleteOne could of predicted a move like this, however, I don't think that many were calling for his head just yet. Seems like they could of saved this move for summer.
Ken Rosenthal said Coop would be the first manager to go this year. Not very likely that is going to be the case.
ReplyDeleteYou can't argue with what Coop did with our club last year. Saving the move til summer would really only draw more attention to the situation. This will at least allow Coop to manage with less stress...if that is possible for a mlb manager.
